"What's it made of?" Introduces X-ray analysis, not for imaging, but for determining chemical makeup of an object, and encourages participants to bring in their own objects to be analyzed. The workshop will focus on XRF Spectrometry, used in such fields as art authentication, archeology, environmental testing, forensics, geology, all the way to aerospace and manufacturing. We’ll cover a basic introduction of the tools, the physics surrounding their use, and most importantly, how they are relevant to people's interests and their day-to-day lives. Ages 13 and up.
